W2100 battery - not detected by MBC-08
It sometimes happens that the batteries of the W2100 system are not being detected by the MBC-08 battery charger anymore.
This is often the case for smaller battery capacities like the 30mAh or the 100mAh batteries. If they are not stored properly or they are stored for longer time without being recharged, they can fall into a deep discharge state, where they can not be detected by the battery charger anymore. Here we explain how one can try to wake up even deep discharged batteries with the MBC-08 battery charger.

W2100 Batteries with can deep discharge
The W2100 batteries should always be charged after each use. When they are stored in a partially or fully discharged state, they can fall into a deep discharge state. If this is the case they will not be recognized by the MBC-08 battery charger anymore as thy do not emit any residual charge when plugging them into the charger.
If this is the case, one can try to wake up the batteries once more. To do so attach the battery to a charging port of the MBC-08 and start the Multi Battery Charger software. Choose the loading port of your battery and switch to the capacity test option. Select the battery capacity of your attached battery and start the capacity test.
The capacity test goes through the following three steps.
1. The battery is fully charged first.
2. After that, the battery is completely discharged with a discharge current of 30 or 100, 200 or 300 mA, depending on the battery type selected. The time, which is needed to discharge the battery, is measured.
3. The battery is charged again to full charge or storage charge level, as selected.
As the capacity test is started manually it can even work on batteries which were unresponsive before. In the first step they will be fully charged before the capacity test starts in the discharging phase. Please do not stop the test before it is completed for best recovery rates.
Do not use the charging device without supervision! Batteries are inflammable especially damaged batteries.
Prevention
To prevent batteries from deep discharge they should always be stored at least 80% charged. This can be done with the storage charge option in the Multi Battery Charger program or they can be stored fully charged. when batteries are not being used for longer periods of time they should be checked regularly and if necessary recharged. The smaller the capacity of the battery, the more often they should be checked and recharged.
